What is the meaning of Shimen
“Shimen:”Shi”,Stone,refers to the water of the kidney.”Men”,Door.The name of “Shimen” means that the dampness-Qi of Ren Channel cools down again here. The substance of this acupoint is wet cloud-qi from CV 4(Guanyuan) point. After reaching this point, it will dissipate heat and cool into the wet cloud-qi of the lower part of the heaven. Only a small part of dampness-qi absorbs heat and travels up the Ren Channel. This point is like a gate, hence the name.
